Basic things to do after moving a New house.
After purchasing or Moving to a new house, you are very excited because buying or moving to a new house is something that you don't do everyday.
Even if you are moving to the best of gated communities with all amenities and facilities provided, there are some things you should do to make sure your transition from your old place to your new address goes as smoothly as possible. Here are some of the first things you need to do after buying a house.
Store your settlement papers after buying a house - After buying a house, you should make at least two to three photocopy sets of all property-related documents. Keep the originals in the safest zone you could think of, and make a digital copy of it as it can be easily accessible and sent to anyone if required. But make sure these digital copies are accessible only by you or by those whom you want to.
Change the locks - Unless you’re buying a brand new home from a builder you need to have the locks changed (but it is still recommended to change). You don’t know who all has a key to your home and that can be scary.
Personalize the mailbox and Nameplate - If you are staying in a House, that's your address. Personalize it to give it a touch of you. Place a nameplate outside the house. Also, update your name on the nameplate at the reception.
Schedule a deep cleaning - Even though the seller has provided you with a clean new house from his end, it is for you to get it checked for bugs or termites and get it cleaned thoroughly. Because once you unpack your belongings in your new house, it will become difficult to clean the house the way it can be done now.
Update your address on documents - Now that you have moved into your new house, tell the world about it. Update your address on all important documents like Passport, Banks, Investments, Driving license, Ration card, Voter Id etc. Updating all the legal documents will put your life at comfort later on.
Tell Everyone About Your New Address -If you have purchased a new house, your friends might already know about it. But being a Proud owner, it is also your responsibility to let everyone about your new location. Call in for a party and show off your new house.
Set up Utilities, Cable and Internet - You definitely don't want to miss on the entertainment in the new house. So look out for good options which will serve the basic motive of 24 hours WIFI connection at home, cable TV from a local distributor or the branded names running nationwide.
Meet Your Neighbors - It’s always good to get out and meet your neighbors. See who has kids your age, get inside info on other neighbors, and make some friends. Your neighbors can also recommend good restaurants in the area, dry cleaners, plumbers and more. Your neighbors have lots of information on your new community, take advantage.
Check Out the Local Market -It's always good to know where to get what. Whenever you move to a new place, this is always a challenge. But getting a list of stores for basic necessities will help. Search beforehand for Medical stores, supermarkets, saloons, schools etc.
Change utilities to your name -Immediately after buying a house transfer electricity, gas, telephone & water meters in your name. In fact, before property registration, find out NOC format for such transfers and take the signature of the previous owner on NOC at the time of registration only.
There are a few things that everyone does differently. Some like to add some plants for fresher air as most new houses will have a lingering smell of paint and furniture. Some like to get their house inspected and some throw a housewarming ceremony or Gruhapravesham.
Above mentioned tasks are very important & to be completed after buying a house. After finishing these tasks, you can sit back, relax and enjoy a cup of tea on the balcony of your new SMR Holdings flat.
